Enhanced Music-Over-ISDN Service

We offer full-production mixes over ISDN.  How is that useful to you?

Say your radio station has an on air appearance with a visiting band or artist, or a local group like Passion Pit or The Dropkick Murphys...  Most radio stations only have the capability of setting up for a small in-studio appearance or acoustic performance.  Labels have long accepted this as the way things are, but the technology for better promotional appearances has existed for more than a decade.

At Dirty Water Sound we can sound check and mix a full band live in the studio, and connect with your station over high speed, joint-stereo ISDN, sending you a high quality stereo (or mono if preffered) mix with the clarity, balance, depth, and punch of a studio recording.  We can additionally set up any or all the members of the group on their own microphone for interview segments.  You can produce incredibly high quality live or pre-recorded musical segments, and showcase the music and the artists in a way that will really satisfy labels and promotional managers.

The best part of the deal is the price.  For a flat $500 fee, you get the studio for up to 4 hours, for a painstaking, detailed sound check, practice run-throughs, and the open ISDN lines.  You, of course, can record as much or as little of the content live as you like, but we'll also record it straight off the board in high definition (without the encoding of the ISDN), and send you our mix and the Pro Tools session for your own promotional purposes.  We have worked in radio for over 10 years and know how to make a great sounding mix for airplay.

In these days of downloads, this provides you a powerful tool for both promotion and profit.  DJ's can play the song to advertise an artists' upcoming appearance, and announce the availability of the unique download on the station's website or on iTunes.  It brands the station as an original content provider; it provides more content to content-hungry fans, and offers tangible revenue to both the station and the artist.

We'd love to have our name associated with these appearances ("appearing live at Dirty Water Sound in Boston"), or if you prefer all the credit, we will happily appear anonymously for a small $50 fee, where you can introduce your guests as being live in the studio with you.  With the quality of high speed ISDN, no one need be the wiser.

Bands and management will be delighted to work in the studio.  We're conveniently equipped with a loading dock and freight elevator so moving gear in and out is a breeze.  We have a mix-your own headphones cue system, so every musician can have and be happy with their own mix, and we have a great microphone and instrument selection in house including a grand piano, fender rhodes, hammond/leslie combo, and clavinet.  Also several drumsets, snares, cymbals, guitars, and amps.  See gear list for details.
